Christmas in Mexico!

We need YOUR help to collect 3,000 boxes for Christmas in Mexico!

1st– Grab a "Christmas in Mexico packet" from your Bible Study leader or from the All Star Store.

2nd– Fill up a plastic shoe box with all sorts of fun stuff!! Ex: coloring books, candy, toys, toothpaste, socks, stuffed animals, etc. *NO RECEIPT REQUIRED*

3rd– Wrap up the box, place the green label (included in the packet) on it and drop it off at the All Star Store or outside the auditorium.

Don't have time to run to the store? Beginning November 26 we will have boxes and goodies available for purchase in the upstairs computer lab (near the All Star Store). For $5 you will receive a starter box that includes toiletries. You can then add to the box toys and other fun items available for purchase. You can also purchase individual items to help someone else fill up their box!

Meals @ Home!

This past weekend, Home Pointe started a Meals @ Home campaign. Here is a little bit about our campaign and how you and your family can join!

One of the simplest ways to instill strong faith and values at home is to share meals together in an intentional manner.  We are excited to focus on the family table routine during the next 120 days.  Your family is invited to make a commitment to eat together at least 3 times per week during the next four months. Each child this past weekend received a placemat with games, conversation starters, and even a calender so you can keep track of how many meals you are eating together as a family.  For more great resources and ideas on making Meals@Home a significant part of your table and to enter our Meals@Home contest, stop by the HomePointe Center or go to homepointe.org/meals.

As a preteen ministry we are taking it one step further! Each time you eat with your family or make a meal together, take a picture!  You can either bring in the picture or email it to angelap@lakepointe.org. For each picture you submit, you will be entered into a drawing. Each month we will draw one name and that person will win a GREAT prize!! We will also post some of the pictures right here on this blog!!

I hope you join this campaign as we encourage our church family to eat more Meals @ Home together!

Interested in volunteering?

We put a great deal of time and energy into our weekend programming here at Lake Pointe Church. We are always striving to make our environment the best it can be for you and your family. I know that life is constantly busy and that sometimes we feel like we are being pulled in all different directions. Please know that I’m not just trying to add one more thing to your plate! My job is to serve the 4th and 5th graders here at Lake Pointe as well as the volunteers that help teach them. I find such joy in being able to pour my time and energy into serving the Preteen Ministry.

Lake Pointe offers many different ways to volunteer! This past weekend was promotion and with any new year comes new needs. We still have a few volunteer spots open! If you are interested in serving or finding out more information you can contact me at angelap@lakepointe.org or by going to http://www.lpkids.com/Rockwall/GetInvolved/.

Here are a few areas that would love your help:
Saturday- 7:15 PM Bible Study hour- looking for small group leaders and greeters
Sunday-9:30 AM- Bible Study hour- looking for small group leaders
Sunday- 11:00 AM- Bible Study hour- looking for small group leaders
Wednesday- 7-8 PM- Surge program- looking for adult leaders

If 4th and 5th graders are not your thing, we have spots open in other areas as well :) I know that God has some amazing things in store for our church in 2011-2012!

Last week (June 13-17) we had VBS/ Beach Blast here at Lake Pointe! I had the joy of being able to hang out with our 5th graders at Beach Blast. It was so much fun!

Here are some highlights from the week:
- We broke an attendance record with 409 5th graders on Wednesday!!
- We had 472 different 5th graders at Beach Blast!
- In our change drive (along with VBS) we raised over $15,000 in order to buy machines that will help proscribe eye glasses to others all over the world!

This is a blog to keep the parents of Lake Pointe Church's preteens in the know about what is going on with our 4th and 5th graders! There will be updates about new events going on in our ministry and updates about the topics that we are covering during our weekend bible studies.
